4th of July in Good old Provo UT

So our little family decided to go to the Provo, 4th of July Parade. It was fun, but I do have to admit I still get a little culture shock moving back to Utah at times. I sure felt it going to the Good Old Provo Parade. Only Provo Mormons know how to put on a "good spirit felt parade".

The boys watching the dressed up Revolutionaries shoot their old muskets. Why do boys like loud guns? Cute, Chubby Brinn!

Okay for all you mothers out there...No my son is not praying to Mecca. This is a tantrum without limits. I forget the reason but Jaden put on a dying act and then landed face first on the asphalt and screamed out his guts. I'm so use to this display that people were giving me odd looks while I laughed and took pics of my son sucking on the road. Down below you can see the rocks and gravel still stuck to his face. It was such a beautiful moment!
This float in the Provo, Parade won : "The Scariest Entry" I can never remember a moment of not wanting to run in the opposite direction when I see Ronald McDonald.
This float in the Provo Parade won: "The Only Float to Make the Strongest Member Ashamed of Their Religion Award" This float made the strongest member of the church just cringe as this tacky float went down the street and the teengy boppers sing "Going to the Temple and I'm going to get Married"....I'm so ashamed.
...But to add a little humor to the last float entry this next entry which followed the tacky temple Won: "The Best Placed Entry". So after the cutesy little temple float with teeny boppers getting married was the O.H. Berg Undertaking Co. I have to say it made me chuckle a little.Another thing that shocked me was this entry that won: "I Didn't know they had that many in Provo, and Do They Allow Them to March in Parades?" They had all the Provo missionaries march in the Parade. I was only able to get a pic of the tail end of the group but there were a lot.

But we had a blast at the parade and saw bands, tanks, trucks, horses, llamas, big huge Macy's balloons (which we had found out with a lot of laughter that Jaden is terrified of), and shooting of guns and canons. We went back to Grandma and Grandpa Burnett's for a yummy BBQ. Then that night we went up to our house (which we can't live in still) and set off firework (no, not to try and collect insurance) in our retention pond, which has done a great job of retaining sparks but not much else. After our private firework show, we watched the whole valley's firework shows from our balcony. We have rated all the cities' firework shows as follows: Riverton won this year for length and display, Sugar House was second for display with Sandy closely following in third. Draper, sadly won last as they neglected to celebrate at all because they wanted to celebrate Draper Day instead of America Day. But the view from our home was amazing as we saw everything: city displays of fireworks, illegal firework shows, started fires in fields, followed by sirens of fire engines and police.
What a great day to go light something on fire! (Maybe I shouldn't visit my home for a while)
